IPL (INTENSE PULSE LIGHT)

The Ellipse light is a second generation Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) used for Skin rejuvenation, it diffuses redness and pigmented lesions, such as hyper pigmentation, freckles, sun spots and acne.

INTRODUCTION

The appearance of brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles, thread veins and age pigmentation spots can make you look older than you actually are. Intense pulsed light treatment can soften and reduce the appearance of a number of very specific skin problems and conditions including:

• Acne

• Rosacea

• Firms the skin and reduces skin pore size

• Age pigmentation spots

• Sun damage

The heat energy of IPL stimulates new collagen production, firms the skin and reduces skin pore size, resulting in more perfect looking skin.

General Disclaimer: Results and experience from the treatment may vary from person to person.

WHAT IS IPL ELLIPSE LIGHT?

The Ellipse light is a second generation Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) used for Skin rejuvenation, it diffuses redness and pigmented lesions, such as hyper pigmentation, freckles, sun spots and acne.

The first system developed was the Ellipse Flex system and used for hair removal, vascular lesion removal, photo rejuvenation and pigmented lesion removal. 2001 saw the launch of the Ellipse Light system which has been developed for the beauty industry, utilising the same advanced patented technology.

IPL TREATMENT INFORMATION

HOW DOES THE ELLIPSE LIGHT WORK FOR SKIN REJUVENATION?

Age spots and hyper pigmentation contain melanin and diffuse redness contains haemoglobin. The light is absorbed by the melanin in the pigmented area and the heat reaction causes a break down in the melanin in the keratinocytes. A phototoxic reaction occurs in the melanin vesicles and the excess melanin turns darker before it comes away from the skin.

The light is also absorbed by the superficial blood vessels in the skin. The heat reaction causes coagulates blood vessels, destroying protein in the wall of the vessel and stimulates collagen production.

HOW DOES THE ELLIPSE LIGHT WORK FOR ACNE AND REDNESS?

The light targets the porphyrins produced by the P. acnes bacteria in the skin. A photodynamic reaction occurs and produces the free radical single oxygen which performs a selective destruction of the P. acnes themselves.

The light is absorbed into the blood vessels which supply the sebaceous glands. By heating up the capillaries this will reduce the blood flow to the sebaceous glands and decrease the over-production of oil in the skin.

There are 3 different kinds of Acne which can be treated:

Acne Vulgaris: Clogging of the hair follicles which leads to unsightly and sometime painful skin lesions and pimples.

Acne Conglobata: Covers the back, chest and buttocks with pustules and nodules, which might cause severe bacterial infection, as well as extensive scarring.

Acne Rosacea: An inflammation of the face, neck or chest.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS FAR AS RESULTS?

With the Skin Rejuvenation the pigmentation will become darker in colour immediately after the treatment and some general redness may appear. A few days after the treatment the pigmented areas will develop a light crust, this is a good sign that the treatment has worked. After that the skin will look smoother, fresher and younger.

Whilst treating Acne a slight redness and swelling can be seen. This will subside shortly after.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR THE BEST RESULTS?

Skin-photo Rejuvenation: 1 – 3 treatments at 4 week intervals

Acne: 4 – 8 treatments at 2 – 3 week intervals

Redness: 6 treatments at 4 week intervals

Collagen Production: 6 treatments at 4 week intervals

IPL SAFETY

IS THE ELLIPSE LIGHT TREATMENT SAFE?

Yes, it is completely safe. Ellipse is a 2nd generation Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system utilising a patented dual mode filtering system, which removes all unnecessary and potentially harmful wavelengths. The Ellipse has pre-programmed treatments suggestions for different skin types.

PLEASE NOTE:

A patch test needs to be carried out before the treatment. Treatments on different body areas e.g. face and décolletage, will require patch test on both of these areas. The purpose of the patch test is to see how your skin will react to the treatment. This will help to reduce any possible risks or complications and optimises treatment outcomes.
