LASER - DYE VASCULAR LESIONS
Alma Harmony XL PRO is an advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Vascular lesions and redness such as Rosacea can be significantly reduced by heating up and destroying the haemoglobin in the target tissue. This results in reduction of veins and redness making this the ideal treatment for people who suffer from a red flush or veins on the face/ cheeks.
It can also target melanin which reduces pigment making it a very effective treatment at clearing the skin.
Our DYE- VL handpiece uses advanced fluorescent technology (AFT) which utilises the energy that would otherwise go unused and converts this to energy that can be distributed evenly, meaning that even low treatment settings can be very effective at treating and managing a variety of conditions, while minimizing the risk of adverse effects that can usually be associated with other forms of energy such as normal IPL.
The handpiece also has contact cooling which makes the treatment more comfortable to have than traditional forms of IPL.

How does it work?
Once the target chromophore has been determined (either melanin for pigment or Haemoglobin for veins and redness) it will be treated using the DYE VL handpiece which selectively targets the chromophore while keeping surrounding tissue intact. The contact cooling on the handpiece ensures that the treatment is as comfortable as possible, and we can cool the area before and after treating. The target is destroyed by the and is broken down by the body and gradually filtered out over time.
What is the treatment like?
You will firstly need to book in for a consultation where you will fill out the necessary paperwork and your Laser Therapist will answer any questions you may have. During the consultation a patch test will be carried out to determine what settings are best for you to achieve the desired result. This also gives you a chance to feel what the treatment is like.
During your first treatment, the area will be cleansed, and a cold ECG gel will be applied to the area and the area may be marked out if needed. After treatment, the gel will be removed and an SPF 50 applied.
The treatment is quick and usually takes around 20- 40 minutes depending on the area being treated. It feels like a warm/hot elastic band on the skin which disappears quickly. The treated area may feel warm after treatment and it is normal to have some redness, some darkening of pigment or veins (this is a very good sign!) and you may experience some soreness which usually lasts a few hours.
How many sessions will I need?
We offer individual treatments, but we recommend starting off with a course. Most people achieve results after 1 session but best results after 3. These will be spaced 4 weeks apart.
As with all laser treatments, you need to stay out of the sun and wear an SPF to achieve the best results and make sure your skin is protected.
