9 Interesting Facts About Healthy Skin

We've got a few insightful, informative tips to keep your skin looking fresh and young along with recommendations on how exactly to achieve healthy skin. Read on!

Exfoliation is The Key to Dewy, Glowing Skin

We lose 50million skin cells a day and without an extra nudge they may hang around - help your skin regularly remove dead skin cells and boost circulation by exfoliating two times a week. Without exfoliating, your moisturiser can hang on to dead skin too long, which can make your skin look dull and tired. Exfoliation triggers skin cells to wake up and stop being lazy!

Recommended: Circadia Micro-exfoliating Honey Cleanser; patented microbeads of natural beeswax gently cleanse and exfoliate while absorbing excess oil. Good for all skin types.

Instructions: All skin types - Dispense a pea -size amount onto fingertips and apply to face. Gently lather and rinse well. Pat dry and apply Vitamin C Reversal Serum.

How Your Gut Effects Your Skin

Changes to gut health provokes changes to your immune function making way for skin conditions like Rosacea, Eczema and acne to strike along with tired ageing skin. Maintaining a balance between good and bad bacteria in the body has benefits beyond the digestive tract, it also has an effect on the health and appearance of the skin. The benefit of probiotics is that they introduce healthy bacteria to the gut and create a barrier to reduce inflammation, which can trigger certain skin conditions.

This combination of live cultures and vitamin C not only helps support and maintain a normal healthy gut flora but also work in synergy to give a smoother, more youthful looking complexion.

Recommended: Advanced Nutrition Programme - Skin Youth Biome™ is a supplement with a unique combination of good bacteria specifically developed to target skin. It has been formulated with 5 billion active cultures from 4 scientifically studied strains of bacteria. These 4 unique strains have been found to support immunity and exhibit anti-ageing properties.

Dry Lips – How to Treat Them

Lips are prone to dehydration. The skin is thinner than facial skin and does not contain oil glands. Dry lips are commonly caused by sun exposure and cold weather. Lips are a big signifier of your hydration levels so it’s very important to give them a little more hydration from the inside out by drinking plenty of water and using a nourishing Lip Balm. Dry lips that have lost their barrier function are not able to lock in water.

Recommended: LipDrink Lip Balm by Jane Iredale – Quench your lips with hydrating protection. Available in three shades that will leave lips feeling moisturised, protected and refreshingly scented.

The Big Skincare Benefit of Vitamin C

Vitamin C stimulates skin to produce more elastin and contribute to collagen formation by supporting the normal function of blood capillaries that’s great for helping skin to look plump and to fight wrinkles. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, so it helps to protect your cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

Recommended: Advance Nutrition Programme – Skin Vit C take one tablet daily with your main meal.

Water can make your skin dry

When water is free and not bound by an ingredient like hyaluronic acid it dehydrates the skin. Only when water can be bound is skin hydrated. Our skin has a natural moisturizing factor, composed of water soluble compounds like hyaluronic acid that absorbs and locks moisture into the skin. Long exposure to water removes the surface lipids, allowing the moisture to leak out of your skin, causing dryness. So although initially it can moisturise, when the lipids are gone, water can actually dry skin even more.

Recommended: Circadia - Vit C Reversal Serum: This age defying essential product contains the most stable and active form of Vitamin C to increase the firm look of skin and neutralize free radicals. This serum also contains hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5 to hydrate and smooth.
