How To Look After Your Skin in Winter

Whilst we love a cosy fire in the winter and indulging ourselves with hot chocolate (or something a bit stronger), one thing that definitely doesn’t love the cold is our skin.

Mix the cold with our indoor heating and this can cause some serious dehydration. But there is no need to worry! We have you covered with our simple and effective tips and tricks to save your skin from the cold:

1. Internal hydration

Drink lots of water! We should be aiming to drink up to 2 litres of water per day (that’s around 6 bottles depending on the size of your bottle). Always keeping a bottle with you is a great way to ensure you keep sipping throughout the day. Some people find it helpful to set reminders on their phone or use an app to track how much water you drink.

2. External hydration

Give your skin any additional hydration it needs: Hyaluronic acid is the best form of hydration as it is formulated as a serum which is able to reach deeper layers of the skin than a normal cream. If you’re wanting an extra boost of hydration then you could try an overnight mask to re-boot your skin.  Here are our recommended hyaluronic acid products:

Hydrating Serum by Environ can act as your daily hyaluronic acid product

Revive Mask to assist and enhance the skins overall condition and help to make it more resilient.

Moisture on demand This light weight serum provides additional much needed moisture to the skin and helps the skin to adjust to the new climates.

The Hydralox Face Oil contains macadamia oil which can be used on its own or in conjunction with the 'moisture on demand' product. It helps to lock moisture in the skin and help reduce moisture loss leaving your skin super moisturised.

The Aquaporin Hydrating cream helps to intensively moisturise the skin. Containing Avocado oil, and macadamia oil this luxurious cream helps to smooth flaky irritated skin.

3. Wear SPF daily

Blue light from computers and phones can damage our skin just like sunlight. Overtime the blue light can cause pigmentation, inflammation or general weakening of the skins surface making your skin thinner. SPFs create a barrier to the blue light as well as UVA and UVB rays, but you need to choose your SPF carefully as only some sunscreens have the protection against blue light. We recommend Heliocare products as they contain the protection needed against UVA, UVB, Infrared and Blue light – perfect for all year round.

4. Moisturise from head to toe

Remember to moisturise your whole body after a very hot shower or bath: The heat from the bath is another thing which can draw the moisture from our skin so it’s important to replenish your skin with a good moisturiser. This could be your usual evening routine for your face and an indulgent moisturiser for your body. We love the Environ Vitamin A, C and E Oil.

5. And finally – facials.

We tend think of facials as a treat, but they are more of a necessity. If you’re looking for soft, glowing skin with no imperfections then you’re going to need to give your skin more than just a morning and evening routine. We can create a bespoke facial to suit all your needs so your skin. Whether you’re looking to rehydrate, fight the signs of aging or achieve clear skin; we can help with it all.
